Thai Smile will on March 26 start operating regular flights to Kota Kinabalu, the capital of Malaysia’s Sabah state, the fourth ASEAN destination to be flown by THAI Smile. The flight from Bangkok (BKK) to Kota Kinabalu (BKI) will take 3 hours 20 minutes. Thai Smile Airways operate from Bangkok Suvarnabhumi and with the launched of BKK – BKI route, Kota Kinabalu citizens can travel to Bangkok without transit at Kuala Lumpur. A return ticket for Kota Kinabalu – Bangkok cost around 800+
On 1 March 2017, Thai Smile flight WE421 departs from Suvarnabhumi for Kota Kinabalu at 1.40 pm, arrives in Kota Kinabalu at 5.20 pm before leaving Kota Kinabalu for Suvarnabhumi at 6.30 pm and touching down in Suvarnabhumi at 8.20 pm Tourism is a major driver for Kota Kinabalu's economy. With more direct flights coming into the capital city from the likes of Thailand, China, Korea and more, it will boost the State's economy as well as the leisure properties here in Sabah.
